Mining

Mining is arguably the most profitable career you can embark on as an alien. However, mining is more of a veteran player’s job. It takes a lot of patience and skill to master. The pit consists of 13 different levels. As a new player you are automatically allowed to enter level one of the pit. To be allowed to travel down to the next level you must study 2 classes in Mining. This means in order to reach level 13 (the last level), you need at least 26 lessons in mining. Once you have studied enough mining at the Study Hall, you can head to the pit. You start at level one and continue on downwards. Once you have reached a certain level, you can always “jump” directly to that level when you are outside of the pit. For example, once you reach level 13 you will not have to travel through levels 1-12 each time to reach 13.

After entering the pit, there are four ways to leave it. Taking the stairs up from level 1, using a spider root, using the listed amount of motivation to walk out, or by dying to a pit monster. Mining in itself is very easy, all you do is you walk across a vein and click mine (mining a vein costs 2 motivation. The further you go down in the pit, the better the ore gets. There are monsters in the pit, which also get tougher the further you go down.

Here are some pit specifics you would most definitely want to know:

Pit Items
Pit items can be bought at the Miner’s Camp Store. You can only buy one item per day and make sure you treat the store owner nicely. Each item does many different things. Good luck on figuring them all out.

Ore
The ore gets better as you go down deeper and deeper into the pit. The farther you go down, the more money you will make when you finish mining. Good luck getting to the last level!

Monsters
Similar to ore, monsters get tougher and tougher as you get deeper into the pit. On some levels you have no monsters at all and on some you will face easy and tough monsters. Having a certain amount of study points in mining will let you avoid these monsters in each level (sort of like buying a special pass). The deeper they are in the pit, the more study points you need in mining to be able to avoid them.

Below is a very short guide on how to get started in the Pit:

As a new miner the two things you will need are a map and a compass. Since you can only buy one item a day I suggest you plan ahead on when to mine. Once you are ready to mine, enter the pit starting on level one. Your goal should be to head for level 13 where you can mine the most expensive ore.

When you reach a level you wish to mine in, explore the area to try and find as many veins as you can. You should stumble across veins all over the place. When you do find a vein, simply click mine and you will receive between 1-2 ore. After you have mined a vein you cannot mine it again. However, if you leave that level and walk back in, all veins are reset. As time goes on you will figure out the tricks of the trade to being a master miner. If you have the patience it is possible to buy one month's subtime on a good pit day.
