Fishing
While it may appear time consuming (not to say difficult) to new players, fishing is one of the most popular ways to earn an income in A3. The following step-by-step guide will show you how to catch your first few fish, and hopefully help you catch many more in the future. Happy fishing!
First, head to the Study Hall, located in Campus Prime. Once you're there, enter the number of study points you want to spend on Fishing. Each lesson in fishery costs 5 motivation, but every 2 points you have in it will allow you to catch one fish every day. For example, if you have 100 classes in Fishery you can catch 50 fish. Next head over to The Docks. A screen like the following page should appear:
![]() What does any fisherman need before he can fish? A rod and a boat! Click I'd like to buy a boat at the bottom of the list, and shell out the 1,000 credits for one. Then, if you have any credits left over, upgrade the boat until you can't afford to do so anymore (or you reach the highest upgrade). The first boat you buy will allow you to travel to the Fishing Pond. After upgrading it you'll be able to travel to the C&O Canal, then Echo Lake, and finally the Ocean. Now that you have your boat you just need a rod and some bait. Click Sell me supplies, I need bait and such and buy the bait and rods required for the fish you want to catch (see the table at the bottom of this guide to pick which fish you want to catch). Now you're ready to fish! Click the Help me load up my boat, I'm going fishing! link and tip the fisherman 1000 credits. Note: The first time you fish with the fisherman you tip him 1000 credits. From then on you tip him 20 credits before you set sail each day. From this point on, the concept of fishing is fairly simple. You select a location on the grid and cast; if there's a fish at that location and it doesn't mind your bait, you'll catch a fish! If you happen to catch one, refresh the page to catch another (and repeat until there are no more fish at that particular spot). Once you catch a fish, it's entered into your Logbook. By looking at your logbook, you can find out what bait the fish likes, and even get a hint as to where it's currently located! While fishing, each cast costs one motivation whether you catch a fish or not, so depending on your motivation and how many study points you have in fishery you may or may not make a large profit your first day. You can sell the fish you receive at the Marketplace under the Fresh Fish section. If you catch a Fisher King, you will receive a fish scale that can be sold at the Marketplace, but under the Fishing Items section. Any fresh fish you have at reset (midnight AST) will rot and become useless. Fish scales do not rot.
